I was born in 1976 in Runcorn, Liverpool and was part of a family of 5. My dad was a whiskey maker and my mum was a cleaner. My very first job was collecting glasses in the local bar, I had no GCSE’s but a big dream!
I started my working career from an early age with a Saturday job in Dixons, where over 12 months, I was taken on full time and the following year, placed in the top 200 salespeople in the country, this gave me a real taste for sales and business.
Young Professional
By the time I was in my mid 20’s, I was a regional manager and played a big part in Dixons £52 million turnover, but I also turned my attention to investing and flipping properties, and this was the beginning of my life as an entrepreneur.
When the infamous financial crash of 2008 landed, I was hit hard by the onset effects and not only lost all my investments, but my cars and my home too. It was tough and bittersweet pill to swallow, and me and family really struggled. After 3 years of struggle, I saw a light at the end of the tunnel found a real passion in renewable energy.
The Entrepreneur
After a lot of learning, networking and hard work, ESE Group was born and rapidly scaled at pace accomplishing some incredible work to date. While we specialise in renewable energy and tackling climate change, I also wanted to give back to the local community that was there for me during the tough times.
On the success of ESE Group, I got back into Housing Investments and founded GLJ Securities with the sole intention to offer high quality, affordable housing to tenants in and around my hometown, the borough of Halton.
Community
To date I have contributed to several local charities including Alder Hay, Clare House, Halton Haven Hospice and Lister Steps to name a few. Being from Liverpool, I feel a natural path towards helping my community and I think a great example for this was ESE’s Big Give Back campaign, where we saw our communities most vulnerable, supported with free food parcels for Christmas.
Me and my team, where out delivering 1000 food parcels on Christmas Eve. This was humbling experience, a great success and such a privilege to be part of, and we hope to expand on that for 2021.
The Future
I will continue my charity work and supporting the local Liverpool, Runcorn, Widnes and St Helens areas with every opportunity that arises.
From a business point of view, I have took ownership of a commercial property in Halton where plans where drawn up to turn them into 14 self-contained apartments that I donated to Halton Borough Council in 2022 to use and house victims of domestic and social abuse.
I believe that in the world we live in, no one should be paying for their own electricity, we should be self-generating our own energy and that’s where Solar Energy really comes into play.
We will be expanding on our renewable energy proposals with a huge leap forward. This is not only our future, but a future for our children and theirs.
I am a husband with 5 children and proud grandfather!
We only have one planet, and we owe it to future generations to treat it as best as we can.
